This Week’s Groove

We’re going Down Under this week for a sultry singer named Kimbra.  You may have heard her in the duet with Gotye’s single “Somebody I Used to Know.

That promoted me to do some digging and learn more about this musician.  And I found lots of info about her, including some excellent tracks on the New MySpace.  She’s signed an international deal with Warner Bros. Music, so you should be able to find her music just about anywhere, including iTunes.

Strong vocals, funky beats, electronic undertones and a sweet, smokey voice make Kimbra someone you should add to your music library.  I also get an occasional Dale Bozzio (Missing Persons) vibe on some of her tracks.  Right now, I’m digging “Two Way Street” (Aeroplane Remix) from her album “Vows” which has a Nile Rogers-like guitar groove, which, needless to say, sold me on this track.  Done.

So dig this week’s groove: “Two Way Street” (Aeroplane Remix) from her album “Vows” by Kimbra.
